University of Tokyo (11-8-06).  When I visit a country or a city, I usually visit the best university around.  University of Tokyo is the best university in not only in Tokyo but also the best in Japan.  Compared to the other universities I ever visited, To-Dai(ÔÔÓÞ, short  for ÔÔÌÈÓÞùÊ) is rather small in campus size.

The Front Gate.  If it wasn't written on the map, I would keep searching for the front gate.  Too modest for such a great university.

Ya-Su-Da Auditorium.  It was burned during the student demonstration in 70's.  You can see it if you look close. Now students are sitting peacefully and eat lunch.

The famous Red Gate(îåÚ¦; Aka-Mon).

A pond in the center of To-Dai.  I guess many To-Dai students kill themselves here.

The college of agriculture. Isn't Japanese agriculture dead already?

Yes, college of agriculture alright.  Why do you think they close the college even though Japanese agriculture is near dead?

Center is the administration building and the building on the right is college of commerce and economics.

If it is in Korea, a university is a center of attraction.  Thus, you will find many bars and restaurants.  However, I don't see much of it here.  But I found no clustering of bars near the other Japanese universtiies I visited (Kagoshima, Kyoto, Hokkaido).

Look-very-old coffee shop and bookshop. Considering the price of the land in Tokyo, I don't understand why this old building has never been rebuilt.  Looks like 50 years old at least.

A Korean restaurant right acroos the front gate. Not so expensive than Korean restaurants in Tsukuba.

I traveled to Tokyo to check out a notebook computer. Akihabara is OK but these days Shinjuku has more models and lower prices.  I dropp by the famous entertainment district, Kabuki-jo.

If you walk through the Kabuki-jo you will reach a Korean street.  Many Korean grocery stores and restaurants.  I forgot to shop there.

What is different from other countries is this.  These young boys are the "hosts" to entertain rich ladies and rich "hostess." And they advertise them. They make A LOT OF MONEY, I was told.

There are other entertainments available.  Use your imagination.  Also, watch out for the pimps.  I would rather not do anything here.  I suggest you browse the area and go home.  Also, if you are a foreigner, you will not be served here properly.

Another shot of the Kabuki-jo. Yes, they love MacDonald's and KFC.
