We went on a field trip to a dairy farm in Saitama prefecture, which is north of Tokyo. Among many interesting things to learn, waste management system(and production of commercial environmentally friendly fertilizer) and disease and control record, which reflects the traceability system is in operation in this farm. Here are some pictures of shit. ;)

Waiting for other students to arrive. In Korea, we move together when we go on a field trip. Also, we prepared our lunch indivudually, which is not the case in Korea. Koreans would reserve a restaurant nearby. |

Yes, it is a corporation. I heard from a Japanese TV show, in near future, they expect that large conglomerates will enter the agricultural industry to produce vegetables and produce many genetically improved produces. |

From the pen floor, dungs will be transported through a conveyor belt and dumped here. |
|
You can see dungs are already mixed with
hays or sawdusts. |

A big machine is mixing the sawdust-mixed dungs for aeration. This significantly reduces the waste odor. I smell and touched the waste and virtually no odor. |
|
Once wastes are processed. They are packed in a bag and sold as "High Quality Natural Fertilizer" to farmers who practice environmently friendly farming. |
