I joined the Japanese Society of Agricultural Economcs and went to the conference (3-30-06 to 3-31-06, Meiji University) at Tokyo.  Several interesing differences are found compared to Korean societies in general.

Registration tables. Receptionists are graduate students like in Korea.  Annual memebrship fee is 3,000 yen. Dinner cost you 5,000 yen more.

They sell books at the conference.  It is a pitty that all books are in Japanses.

Keynote lecture.

Rest area for coffee and tea.  No snacks.

Dinner buffet.  I thought the food was not enough for all of us but it turned out that they had preapred enough.

Korean participants.  Center is Dr. Seoh, the president of Korean Society of Agricultural Economics.

This explains why it cost you 5000 yen.  They cooked on the spot.  In Korea, foods are already cooked.  Very delicious.

The Liberty Tower of Meiji University.  In 80's many universities moved to rural areas to meet the increased educational demand in Japan.  However, after 90's and 00's, universities are coming back to Tokyo metropolitan area because there has been sharp decrease in the number of students due to low birth rate.  Also, students prefer universities in Tokyo, because there are more part time jobs in Tokyo.  The problem is, the universities that sold all the land can not come back due to the expensive land price.  Meiji University is lucky in that it kept some land for administration and library.

Japanese traditional liquor served.

Wooden cup for the liquor. Also function as a souvenior.

After the banquet, a performance is provided by the cheerleaders of Meiji University.  Very Powerful. A short video is available on request.

The queen of Meiji cheer leaders.

She kicks too.

We dropped by Korean Consulate to make our Korean driver's license translated/certified.

The outdoor rest area of Meiji University.

On the way to Akihabara.  I skipped the afternoon session and went to Akihabara.  10 minutes from Meiji University to Akihabara.  Also, Tokyo university is near from here.

Many things to see.  I have visited here 17 years ago.  It is not like the old days but a lot of people still shop here.

A girl soliciting for her performance tonight on the Akihabara street.

No one is interested?

Cherry Blossoms.  I am alergic to flower powder but loved the view.
