100 yen shop Seria. Really all items are about 100 yen and items over 100 yen are price-tagged. 10 minutes bike ride from the dorm. You can buy utensils, house wares.  Shop here first.  If you are brand-name sensitive, go somewhere else.

Kasumi (grocery store), laundry and beauty shops(1000 yen, other places are 1500 yen for hair cut) are near the 100 yen shop.  Ma-Ru-Mo(a cheaper grocery shop with many produces imported from China) is near

Nissan Fair Lady a.k.a 300zx in the US.  390,000 yen + registration fee 180,000 yen.  Total is around 570,000 yen in Tsukuba. Four seats.  I wanted to get this one about 15 years ago when it was first out, but  I couldn't afford it.  Now it is old but still stuns me when I look at it.  Muscle under the real beauty.  Also appeared in one of the 007 movies (For your eyes only?).

Toyota MRS. 1,090,000 yen + registration fee 50,000.  total is 1,144,500 yen.  Very cute and cheap but the engine size is only 1800cc, which make this car a sporty car but not a real sport car.  Don't try to race with other sport cars with this one.

Mazda RX-7. 980,000 yen + registration fee.  The pride of Japanese sport cars.  Two seater with Rotary engine.  There are small seats back but almost useless.  I drove this one (1983 model) in the US.  RPM roars.  The next model of this car, RX-8, is out, though.
Here is a link for a used-car dealer in Tsukuba.: Auto Bank

Mazda Roadster a.k.a  Miata in the US. 1,000,000 yen+registration fee. Mazda version of sporty car.  Cute but for elderlies.  If you want to buy a used car cheapest, ask a mechanic to participate in an auction and get you one.  You name the model and options.  Only mechanics/professional dealers can participate in the auction. Usually 10,000~20,000 yen cheaper than used car dealer this way.

???? ò¢?ò¢?

5kg of white rice from a JA(Japanese Ag Co-ops) produce shop.  Vegetables are really fresh.  They will stay fresh much longer than the ones from a grocery shop.  Spinach and Chinese cabbages are harvested every morning and sold.

Hanamasa is a grocery store specialized in imported agricultural products and foods.  Really cheap.  But you have to buy in bulk because their target customers are restaurant owners.  Mostly from China.  There are two stores(above) I know in Tsukuba.  If you have a big party to throw, you want to shop here.

Jusco (grocery, appliances, electronics), many shops and department stores(including SEIBU and many brand name boutiques) near by.

A recycling shop near the Tsukuba center(south east from it). This is a national chain.  You can find many brand name items such as Louis Vuitton and Rolex here at cheaper price.

A sister store of "Off-House." You can buy used electronics and cameras.

A complex of sport ware stores on the south end of Ni-si-o-do-ri(west grand street). This is a golf shop(pro shop).

Another store at the complex.  You can buy many sports wares from baseball gloves to health supplement foods.

This store sells mostly sporting wears and snickers.  Prices are reasonable.

Across the street in front of the Oikoshi Residence(to east), there is a 100yen food mart, (Shop99, opened on May, 2006).  Everything is 100yen and under.  Meats and Vegitables are packed in a small portion and sold at 100yen.  This means I don't have to buy a large portion of veggies and meats and store them in the refrigerator.  Otherwise, I would waste lots of food because I can't eat a big water melon alone in 3 days.  Strongly recommended.

Best palce to buy a used car.  I will get a phone number later.  For 200,000 yen, you can buy a reliable used car.  To get there, drive North to Mt. Tsukuba on Nish O Do Ri and at the T-intersection, take left.  Drive on about 300 meters at the first signal, take a right turn.  Then you should be able to see the shop on your left.

They also run a body shop so if you get in trouble with your car, they will fix them for you.  I fixed the muffler of my car at a half price of the dealer.

If you are interested in buying brand apparels at a factory outlet, you can go to Sano Premium Outlet, 1~1.5 drive to west of Tsukuba.  You take Higasi-O-dori to North and when you meet Route 125, take a left turn and drive on.  When you are at the cross section of 125 and 20, take a right and drive to North.  When you meet Route 50, take a left and drive to the outlet.

Yes, Armani, Bally, Tommy Hilfiger, Timberland, and Nautica to name a few.

It will take 2 hours to look around for men.  Closes at 8:00 pm.
